SPOILERS ~ Past
Keep in mind, these are spoilers, so don't read them unless you want to know about details for the rest of the series, but not for the last two episodes (the end of the series).

This new version of the spoilers page was written up by "Stranger" (the resident gamer and the other (other than Jason Yeh) Maaya Sakamoto fanatic on the EscaML).

Valentine Spoilers

Okay. Prepare for a LOOONG, boring deluge of useles facts. ^_^ For starters, Faye's last name is unknown. Valentine was picked by the doctor who revived her, Dr Bakksu (direct transliteration)- Valentine is one of his favourite days of the year.

Faye's accident presumably also had something to do with the Gate- the good doctor mentioned that all the data was burned up in the Gate incident, thus leaving no clues to Faye's background. It is also unknown who put her into cold sleep in the first place.

The accident occured in 2014, she was revived 54 years later in 2068 and meets Witny. 3 years later, she meets Spike and co. in 2071. How she picked up her bounty hunting skills in those years is anyone's guess. She was 20 years old when the accident happened, thus making her 77 years old as of the time she met Spike.

The reason why she was stuck in cold sleep was that medical science and facilities weren't advanced enough to save her life back then, hence they stuck her body in liquid nitrogen, knowing someday they'd be able to save her with the technology of the future.

The amount she owed the doctor was roughly 300 million and 20 thousand, according to Nurse Mindy. That is, of course, before accounting for Witny's debts which she inherited. I think she owes some money to the casinos as well, or else they wouldn't have bothered to capture her early on in the series.

Digressing for a moment here, Doctor Bakksu is Witny's uncle- presumably, they were trying to squeeze the money out of Faye or something. Also, I think that the mysterious benefactor who sends the Bebop crew the tape (and later, Beta player) of Faye's past may be Witny.

Getting back to Faye...prepare for an even more boring lecture on Singaporean geography. :P

Okay. In episode 24, Ed says "Mizusa" after seeing the Merlion. (She plays with a watering can later in the episode, saying it's "Mizu-Ja", or water Jar) My Hong Kong/Taiwan translated copies translates that as "Sentosa". Sentosa is, in case you didn't know, a smallish island off the southern coast of Singapore. It is primarily a tourist attraction-you know, island paradise and all that.

Now, about the Merlion. The original Merlion is located in Clifford pier on the mainland. However, there IS a replica of the Merlion on Sentosa island. Thus, I think we can presume Faye lives in Sentosa. Problem is though, Sentosa is a tourist island, NOT a residential island. Probably that little detail was left out to not complicate the story, so never mind that. Also, the home that Faye remembers bears a tremendous resembeance to the main building/1st station of the monorail on Sentosa. We don't have mansions that large in Singapore anyway... we lack space.

That's about all the semi-relevant stuff I thought you'd like to know about.

Additional Notes: The "Witney" Stranger speaks of is "Witney Hagasu Matsumoto" (as written in the Gakken Mook Cowboy Bebop Characters Collection art book, along with the subtitling quote in English "He was swindled me out of my pure heart.").
